City Barge moves first 1,000 TEU between RST and Rotterdam’s Maasvlakte

Where this initiative only started on the first of January last we are proud to announce the transport of the first 1,000 TEU. As part of a joined initiative between the Danser Group and EGS, Rotterdam Shortsea Terminals has made a reliable and sustainable barge connection with the Deep Sea Terminals on Rotterdam’s Maasvlakte.

This new twice per week offered connection is mainly used for the transport of transshipment units and the repositioning of extended gate and empty cargo flows.

Danser’s CCO Michel Bot is quite proud of new developments. “Danser was positively surprised by the immediate demand coming from the market straight after the start of the new service as well as the positive reactions coming from customers after the first months of operating the added connections” he commented.

RST is called on the end of the weekend as well as in the middle of each week covering both the import and export peak which is so important for the 50 to 60 shortsea services calling Rotterdam’s Waalhaven each week.
