About Us

Our outstanding geographical location, the wide variety of shipping destinations we serve and our tri-modal hinterland connections make RST Europe’s largest hub for shortsea shipping. At the heart of Rotterdam’s port, we handle containers safely and efficiently 24/7, ensuring cargo reaches its destination in the fastest, most efficient manner.

Over 25 years of experience

Rotterdam Shortsea Terminals was established in 1997. Thanks to our continuous commitment to excellence and great flexibility, we have managed to achieve significant growth since then. In April 2021, RST became part of Blue Ocean Capital and Crestline Investors. This acquisition has further fuelled the development of our terminal.

Clear vision towards the future

We strive to be the leading provider of shortsea shipping services in the port of Rotterdam and aim to distinguish ourselves based on our efficiency, sustainability and commitment to excellence. We continuously improve and innovate in order to optimally anticipate the ever-evolving needs of our customers and the industry in general.

Our people make the difference

At RST, we are proud of our human capital; our staff are the foundation of our company and the cornerstone of our success. At present, we have 350 highly trained employees who are dedicated to providing the highest level of service and ensuring that cargo is always handled safely and on time. Digital-ready!

We substantially invest in digitisation for all facets of our terminal process. For this, we proactively make use of the Port Community System of Portbase. All data exchange with the shipping lines, with Customs and for the hinterland modalities truck, barge and rail takes place digitally via EDI and the web.

Socially responsible

For RST, corporate social responsibility is a key focal point. Our ambition is to develop into a truly sustainable container terminal. We are committed to reducing our environmental impact and promoting sustainable practices. This includes investing in advanced technologies that help to reduce emissions and improve fuel efficiency, as well as implementing responsible business practices that minimise our impact on the environment.

Quality backed by certification

At RST, we are proud of the various quality labels that we carry. They serve as confirmation of the reliability of our day-to-day operations:

AEO

The Authorized Economic Operator certificate is awarded by Customs to companies in recognition of their outstanding security procedures. Because we are AEO-certified, our customers benefit from effective and quick customs clearance without time-consuming administrative formalities.

ISPS

The International Ship and Port Facility Security Code serves as the global security standard for vessels and port facilities. The goal of the ISPS code is to protect vessels and port terminals against terrorist threats. RST adheres to the code to ensure a safe and secure working environment.
